Throughout my time at the University of Michigan School of Information's Bachelor of Science in Information Program, I have had the opportunity to work on a variety of products ranging from Python Programming Projects, Graphic Design Projects, and also User Experience related projects. Check them out below!
Catch out my GitHub for some cool coding projects that I have done in the past. I have had experience with Python, C++, PHP, mySQL, HTML, and CSS.
CodingIn the 2015-2016 Academic Year, I conducted undergraduate research under the direction of PhD Candidate Yong Kim through the University of Michigan Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Throughout the year, I investigated media coverage on the mobile phone industry and manufacturing supply chain disrputions. I collected and interpreted data with the utilization of various databases and computer programs such as Bloomberg Terminals, Micosoft Excel with NodeXL, Python Programming, and SATA.
Undergraduate ResearchIn Winter 2017, I was hired by UMSI Professor Steve Oney to be an Instructional Aide for SI 106: Programs, Information, and People. This course is the introductory Python Programming course for students across the University of Michigan. My tasks included grading weekly program sets and proctoring exams for approximately 170 undergraduate students. I also held weekly office hours and co-taught a weekly discussion section with a Graduate Student Instructor.
TeachingIn Fall 2016, I enrolled in SI 422: Needs Assessment and Usability Evaluation where I would work on a semester long project that would focus on Snapchat, a popular social media application. My team and I focused on Privacy and Security of the application and wanted to redesign the application by introducing Snapchat Groups. Throuhout the process, I conducted A/B Testing, Competive Analysis, Heurisic Evaluations, Usability Tests and Surveys, creating Personas and application mockups.
User Experience Design and ResearchIn Winter 2016, I enrolled in SI 110: Introduction to Information Studies where I created an Infographic on Electronic Health Records and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). These are two topics that are ambigious to understand so I created an infographic to help others learn about these two things a lot easier.
In Winter 2017, I enrolled in SI 320: Graphic Design where I learned the Adobe Suite from Adobe Photoshop to Illustrator. I completed various projects from creating Web Sliders for the UM Biology Department, to designing a portfolio website, creating a timeline, and creating an infographic for my favorite fruit: Grapes. Having graphic design skills are particularly important for any UX Designer/Researcher.
In Winter 2017, I enrolled in a project based course, SI 335: Social Media in Organizations where I was able to work with the Founder and CEO of Mi Padrino, a local Ann Arbor start up in working with their social media platform. Mi Padrino is a event planning website that is tailored towards the Hispanic/Latino demographics where it acts as an event registry and also a payment collector for gifts. My group and I advised Kim and her company to attract new customers to her platform through social media platforms such as Facebook and Twiter. Mi Padrino just released its beta version in April 2017 and expects a full launch with investor backing in September 2017. Check out Mi Padrino's website here!
